Agentic Gen AI:
Intelligent AI Agents for Manufacturing

Agentic Gen AI: AI Assistance systems based
Generative artificial intelligence (AI) enables great added value potential across the whole production chain. From design to manufacturing, it contributes to the optimization of production performance and to solving complex technical challenges.
Together with AI based on agents, we see nowadays a new generation of assistance systems that integrate perfectly into company processes and accelerate end to end business processes. AI copilots, such as SAP Joule, use AI integrated agents to automate complex processes based on business data. They are described by a high degree of autonomy: individual agents perform specific tasks and can execute multi-step workflows across applications and departments. In doing so, they enhance process efficiency and productivity throughout the entire value chain – from supply chain management and procurement to finance.
CENIT supports you with implementing Agentic Gen AI, including with strategic selection of the appropriate use cases, technical integration, scalability and adjustments.
Increasing Efficiency Across the Value Chain
Whether in production planning, service, or engineering: AI agents provide support where time pressure and error potential are highest. By taking over repetitive, time-consuming tasks, they free employees to focus on higher-value activities. Following the principle of “keep the human in the loop”, ultimate control and decision-making remain in human hands.
Faster Development Through Intelligent Assistance
From the earliest concept phase, Agentic Gen AI enables faster design decisions based on consolidated data (e.g., CAD, PLM, simulation). AI agents analyze requirements, evaluate design alternatives, and provide easily understandable recommendations. This gives development teams greater control and speed while maintaining consistent quality.
Smarter Manufacturing and Supply Chain
Intelligent agents analyze production and supply chain data in real time. They identify patterns, deviations, and shortages, and based on these insights, generate targeted recommendations for action. This is not about simple reactions, but about predictive scenarios that prepare decisions and increase planning reliability. Possible application areas include:
- Optimizing production schedules, for example in response to demand fluctuations
- Early detection of shortage capacity or resource conflicts
- Adjusting supply chain structures in case of disruptions or availability risks
- Supporting detailed planning and sequencing at the shop-floor level
By combining real-time data with historical models and business objectives, the technology creates intelligent assistance systems that help companies make faster, data-driven decisions, use production resources more efficiently, and strengthen the resilience and sustainability of the entire supply chain.
Diehl Aviation: Automate Robots Programming
Diehl Aviation is an example of the way intelligent technologies contribute to efficient automated production. The international supplier of aeronautical systems and aircraft cabin solutions was looking for a way to use two new robotic systems, one more efficiently—one for laser welding of plastic components and another for cleaning process tool surfaces. Manual programming was extremely time-consuming, especially with increasing variation: even before the process began, Diehl Aviation required 200 different robot programs. In addition, tool surface cleaning demanded consistently high quality, since the surfaces of press tools are highly sensitive. Another challenge: CAD models of production equipment and tools were not standardized.
With CENIT’s support, Diehl Aviation established a holistic digitalization strategy. This included standardized CAD models in CATIA, calibration of robotic systems, and the use of FASTSUITE Edition 2 as the central platform for simulation and offline programming.
- Shorter cycle times: tool cleaning times reduced by 40%.
- Consistent quality: robot-assisted cleaning processes reliably meet specifications and standards.
- Improved overall equipment efficiency: offline programming and virtual quality control.
